Thomas M. Cook, CPA
Tom has over 25 years of accounting and tax experience, first at KMPG and then with various technology firms in the Silicon Valley. While Tom likes to think of himself as a generalist, he does have extensive experience in the issues facing companies in the software (including SaaS), manufacturing and construction industries. Tom also has extensive experience with issues surrounding stock based compensation (NQSOs, ISOs, etc.)
Tom received his degree in Accounting from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo in 1991 and returned to the Central Coast ten years later. He and his family live in Pismo Beach, and his children attended local schools.
Tom is an active supporter of the Arroyo Grande Community Hospital Foundation, where he sits on the Board of Directors.
Julie Lebens, CPA
Julie joined the practice in 2014, and specializes in individual tax returns and small business consulting. Julie earned her degree in Accounting from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, where she met her husband, Tom. After spending ten years in San Diego, Julie and her husband moved back to the Central Coast to be closer to extended family while raising their two children.
Julie is active in her church and with Boy Scouts, and enjoys long walks, gardening, and good movies.
Cathy McKenna, Accountant
Cathy grew up in Santa Maria graduating from Allan Hancock College with a degree in Business Administration then transferred to Fresno State University earning a degree in Business Administration with emphasis in Accounting. After working as a self-employed bookkeeper/accountant and vineyard owner/manager while raising two children and living in Sonoma CA, she moved back to the Central Coast and now enjoys calling Arroyo Grande her home.
In her free time she loves walks on the beach, riding bikes, baking, gardening and spending time with family.
Michelle (Shelly) Samis, Staff Accountant
Shelly joined Five Cities CPAs in the fall of 2015, after eight years as a staff accountant with a San Jose CPA firm. Shelly is our QuickBooks online specialist, and provides support to our payroll clients, as well as assisting with tax returns. Shelly has a degree in Accounting with an emphasis on Tax from Foothill College, and has previously worked in quality control in the tech industry.
In her free time, Shelly loves watching sports and doing puzzles with her husband, and is an active distance runner.
Stacey Connelly, Office Administrator
Stacey will more than likely be your first point of contact with our office. Prior to joining the Five Cities CPAs team, Stacey had the opportunity to ride the tech bubble in the Silicon Valley, working as an executive assistant for companies going from startup through IPO.
Stacey enjoys traveling, working on puzzles and spending time with her grandchildren and dogs.
